There are two major projects planned for the upcomming cold time of the year....
-> a Wh40k Demon Force (mainly of Khorne)
-> a Flames of War German Tank Company
-> some more commission works as a trio of Tauros Venators and Imperial Infantry which recently made it onto my desk...
So: let the snowfalls start. I´m well prepared for it :-)

The allmighty force of a Land Raider Crusader
Hi folks,
after having to wait in the shelf for about one year, I finally took my Black Templars Land Raider Crusader to the paintstation and gave it some colour. Well, it´s not the best photo but I hope you like what you can see here. There will be a update with better photos soon.

Dreamforge Games Kickstarter
Hey out there,
something amazing is going on: Another outstanding Kickstarter Project. Dreamforge Games transfer their full range and even more into 28 mm high quality injection plastic and their leviathans also into 15mm. They are not only outstanding quality and design but the price is marvellous. 11$ for 5 heavy troopers? When have you last seen such a thing from Nottingham?
As Dreamforge´s kickass-cool Infantry makes it into plastic as well, I´ve decided to get rid of my plan of buying an Imperial Guard this winter and instead I will build a full grown Eisenkern army.
So please back this project at kickstarter. It´s worth it!!!

Marshall Richard finished
Finally, after having to wait unpainted in the cupboard for about half a year, I found the courage to paint this very model. It´s nobody lesser than Marshall Richard, leader of my Black Templars crusade.
The model is a heavily converted plastic teminator. Most of the sculptwork has been done by my friend Gregor Adrian od runesculpt (see my links section).
He can be seen in colour in one of the upcoming Tabletop Insider Magazine issues....

Something is in the air - IG Commission
Here´s a little WIP of two Valkyries I work on as a commission. The work with the airbrush is basically finished. Next in line is painting the silver parts and then it´s time for weathering and some goodie effects. Looking forward to finish these next week.

Deeper thoughts into wh40k 6th edition
Some deeper thoughts into wh40k 6th edition
I came into wh40k in 2nd edition as a teenager and have been more or less active from that time on. That means I´ve got some routine concerning edition swaps and I´ve seen armies climb and fall just because some small changed sentences in the main rulebook.
After having read the new rulebook several more times and playing some smaller battles with it I started making up my mind on this edition....
Why I love it (so far)...
+ snapshots: I´ve been missing overwatch. I like snapshots. Firing a Heavy Bolter on the move... I like that... Blazing off at attacking Orks... I like that. Well, I´d have preferred if it had been BS-2 for hitting not plain 6 to hit, but it´s great that this rule made it into the book at all.
+hull points: Yes!
+ penetration for CC-weapons.... YES!!! Though I feel sorry for Mr Chaplain just having a penetration of 4 with his Crozius Arcanum... even though it´s strentgh 6 now...
+Allies: YES! That, maybe, is the most exciting "rule" for me. As a dedicated painter I long for painting different models. But always having a full-grown army is expensive and pretty time-consuming. So finally there is a mechanic that allows me to build up some small forces of various armies. Watch out, guys! That´s the signal for me building up all sorts of armies. Chaos force: check! Tau Cadre: check! Tyranids: Check! Orks: Check!
So you will get to see plenty here soon. I´ve got another squad of Templars to finish and then it´s time for changing colours on my paintstation!!!
YEAH!

Some early thoughts on Wh40k 6th edition
Some early thoughts on Wh40k 6th edition
After getting the new rulebook into my greedy fingers yesterday I just couldn´tt stop myself from reading through it over and over again.
It think it to be far too early for a fair detailed feedback but a first impression has definetely set itself:
In my humble opinion the changes in the ruleset could have been a little more courageous but I like most of them. Nevertheless it still feels rather like a facelifting than as a new nose ;-) Playing it several times will surely give a solid impression of the real extend and influence of those changes onto the gaming experience.
Concerning the background, fluff and hobby section it´s a great piece of work. Lovely artwork, some really cool fold-outs of marvellous apocalyptic game setting, and so on.
More than 450 pages full-colour in a hardback book. That´s massive. I´ve always been the kind of guy who prefers having small, lightweight rulebooks for the sake of gaming. So I hope they won´t wait too long with the Black Reach style mini rulebook gaming set...
If you already got your copy, let me know which change of rules YOU like most and why...
My judgement on the new rulebook now (this may still vary a little after some gaming sessions):
Quality of book and artwork: 5 of 5 stars
Ruleset: 4 of 5 stars
Practicability: 3 of 5 stars

Finally Brother Reclusiarch Hektor made his way into the internet. Upto today he only could be seen in colour in the Tabletop Insider magazine (no. 7). I hope you like this grim giant!

A new beginning...
A new beginning...
I love starting new projects. The anxiety, the enthusiasm,... it´s marvellous!
Working on some new projects for about half a year now and still regularly working on older projects finally convinced me of starting a blog of my own, dedicated to my works in the tabletop wargaming sector.
Feel free to drop me some lines if you wish to and I hope you will enjoy this blog.
Matt
